To calculate an L-shaped room, divide it into two rectangles and add their areas. For the ceiling, use the floor area divided by 350. Wallpaper rolls are calculated based on the room's perimeter and ceiling height. First, calculate how many strips fit across the perimeter (perimeter ÷ roll width). Then determine how many strips fit in each roll (roll length ÷ strip height, where strip height = ceiling height + trim allowance). If the wallpaper has a pattern repeat, add the repeat length to the strip height to account for pattern matching. This calculator handles all of these steps and uses standard US roll defaults (20.5 in wide, 33 ft long) which you can override with your actual product dimensions.
What is the HVAC BTU estimate based on?
The BTU estimate uses the widely accepted rule of thumb of 20 BTU per square foot of floor area. This provides a rough starting point for selecting an air conditioner or heat pump size.
